Show Notes

Welcome to Roses & Weeds! A City of Tyler podcast to keep you up to date with current events and news related to our beautiful city.

In this episode of Roses & Weeds, hosts Bob Mauldin invite Councilmembers Shirley McKellar and Broderick McGee, Reference Librarian Rozanna Bennett and  Smith County Historical Society board member Mr. Larry D. Wade Sr. to talk about our Black History Celebration event.

This year, the Tyler Public Library decided to put together a program on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hall highlighting a historic Black neighborhood in the northside of Tyler, called The Cut. Mr. Wade will be doing a presentation about the history of this neighborhood and his experience growing up there. The event will also include musical performances by the Tyler High School Angelic Voices and Drumline and Debra Hammons.
